Text Box: PERFORMANCE POETS ASSOCIATION® Our Thirteenth Annual Poetry Contest PPA is proud to announce the 13th Annual Poetry Contest Open to all residents of Long Island and Queens (entries accepted Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2008) How to Enter Entries may be on any subject up to a maximum length of 32 lines per poem in any style, including free verse, rhyme and forms. Only previously unpublished poems will be accepted. Poetry which glorifies violence, racism or is of pornographic nature will not be accepted. Poetry which dedicates itself to named persons, living or dead, will be disqualified. Please send two copies of each poem, typed on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, one poem per page, with name, address and phone number at the bottom of one copy only. Entry fee is $3 per poem or 4 poems for $10, with no limit on the number of poems entered. Mail to: Performance Poets Association 2176 Third Street East Meadow, NY 11554 with “Contest” indicated on the left front of envelope All checks must be made payable to: Performance Poets Association Please send a cover letter with a short bio, which may be excerpted, plus information, if you wish, about your poems (especially if using forms). Poems should be adaptable to an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 chapbook size. All entries automatically will be considered for our 13th Annual PPA Anthology scheduled for Fall 2009 Entries must be postmarked by December 31, 2008 and mailed to the PPA coordinator at the address above with the word “Contest” indicated on the left front of envelope. Entries must be received between October 1 and December 31, 2008 Blind judging will be performed by a three person panel using a numerical tabulation system. Winners will be announced at the April 2009 PPA Anniversary Celebration. Send SASE for a list of winners. Six Prizes of $100 each will be awarded Additional Prizes at judge’s discretion.
